I personally had that happen and decided to fix it or die passing 10,000 feet in an inverted spin in the Eagle and was very lucky I recovered it and bottomed out at 1500 feet having started at about 35,000 feet.

There is a U-2 on static display inside the Laughlin AFB main gate now.

But, back to the OP, absolutely heart breaking to hear this.

One of the girls that died was the wing commander’s daughter. Witnesses on the ground said the 172 flew under the railroad bridge then pulled hard to climb up between the two bridges. Had an old F86D sitting in the dirt down near the end of one of the runways.

They also buzzed boats and did power-on stalls at low altitude, with four adults on board, in a ratty worn out 172. The word “murderer” was used frequently in the months after the crash. The DRMO yard had a dozen complete wings as well as 8-10 wrecked jets and numerous balls of wreckage that used to be aircraft. That's a good ways east of Del Rio and Laughlin AFB. Road our bikes down there a couple times and climbed around on the F86 (right after we watched that old movie - The Hunters).

I never flew an F5, and it has been a very long time since I flew a T-38 ( others here are much more recent ) but I think it is the same wing and fuselage with bigger engines.

The T-38 has a small wing and stalls unforgivably and develops high sink rates very easily and takes a good amount of altitude to recover.

Senior NCO/Chief housing is along the waters of the Potomac and the views of the Capitol, Washington Monument, etc are incredible.

However, the housing for these ranks is very small and in sore need of updates.

Got there just in time to see a rented C-172 hit the ground, killing a student, an instructor and their two girlfriends. A very lightweight jet, and 50 years of getting beat on by [email protected] You are talking about the crash in 1986? I used to date one of the girls who was killed in that crash. That's a good ways east of Del Rio and Laughlin AFB. Road our bikes down there a couple times and climbed around on the F86 (right after we watched that old movie - The Hunters).

The other girl killed (her friend) left behind a three year old. Made it 10 times a s cool after watching the movie.
