Census data reveal that the interracial marriage rate of black women (and mainly white men) has only modestly increased from 1% in 1970 to 4.1% in 2000.

The findings reveal, overwhelmingly, that the white male respondents, despite most admittedly having very limited experiences with black women, held grossly negative views of them as culturally defunct, domineering, welfare queens, and unattractive unless representing a white aesthetic.

For example, one respondent stated the following, when sharing his thoughts about black women: Just the term ‘black women’ conjures up thoughts of an overweight, dark-skinned, loud, poorly educated person with gold teeth yelling at somebody in public.

This respondent, despite admitting to having no close black female friends and few personal interactions with black women, places whites and Asians as naturally more intelligent than blacks.

My research disputes convenient notions that only a few uneducated, southern bigots hold such strong deep-seated racist and sexist views of black women.

Intimate interracial relationships have long been considered indicative of the social distance between groups, a barometer for gauging race relations. Let's get rid of those monsterous white guys that are evil itself. Why not just utalize the gallazillions of white sperm on reserve. They can be aborted in the womb and we can get an endless supply of white sex girls!

Social distance describes the feelings of similarity and closeness, or dissimilarity and rejection, that members of a group have toward members of some other group (Bogardus 1947; Simmel 1909). Do you know what it feels like for a relationship of 4 years to be broken????????

confirmed to The Root that they had, indeed, deliberately deleted the post (and that the intense traffic generated by it had briefly crashed the site), but they have not responded to our requests for further comment.

They would probably ask us to look at this blot on their record and tell them what we see.

I hope that doesn’t make me racist but honestly that’s the 1st thing I think of (white male respondent) This respondent is middle-class with no black female friends, rare interactions with black families growing up, and who states his interactions with black women only consist of work-related experiences, yet, he expresses strong racialized, gendered, and classed views of black women as the first impressions that come to his mind.

Another respondent, a middle class white male in his 40’s stated the following about black women and attraction: Sexual attraction for me is a combination of physical and personal attributes.

In contrast, women with higher levels of testosterone also have more masculine features and are therefore less physically attractive. It’s not the fact that Caucasians have controlled cultural norms of beauty in America since…always (for more on this, check out the provocative, and thought-provoking, Chris Rock documentary Good Hair). Adding insult to injury, he also notes that these testosterone-jacked uggos are stuck up, to boot: It is very interesting to note that, even though black women are objectively less physically attractive than other women, black women (and men) subjectively consider themselves to be far more physically attractive than others.
